Restoring Your Skin's Vitality with Daily Hydration

Our bodies are approximately 60 percent water, so it’s a no-brainer that we need to stay hydrated.

Your biggest organ is your skin.

The cells that make up your skin rely heavily on water. It's imperative that you, at least, drink eight cups of water a day to keep your body and your skin healthy. Lack of hydration in the skin causes dryness and flakiness. Not drinking enough water can also result in loss of elasticity, which turns into wrinkles and premature aging, and nobody wants that! Proper hydration also helps certain skin conditions such as acne and psoriasis to stay in check.

Above that, water cleanses toxins from your body. Toxins accumulate in your tissues when you’re dehydrated. Your kidneys use water to filter waste from the blood and then get rid of it through urine. Drinking the appropriate amount of water every day helps to reduce your toxic load, which in turn, keeps you energized and combats fatigue!

Water isn’t the only thing that keeps you hydrated. Did you know that there are also foods that you can eat that increase hydration in your body?

Here are some delicious hydrating foods:

If you're having a hard time chugging your dose or eating the right foods, here are a few tips to get you on the right track:

1. Buy a PBA-free bottle that has a mouthpiece for easy sipping and a capacity of at least 40oz. This way, you only have to refill it once. Trust us, it makes a difference! Seeing how much water you've had motivates and encourages you to finish it off, so be sure to get a bottle that has some measuring ticks printed on it.

2. Add some fruit or natural flavoring to your water for some variety! Keep it interesting.

3. Add some ice and let it melt for a more refreshing beverage.

It's no mystery at this point that drinking water works wonders for your skin. Because after all, your skin is a reflection of the state of your body. So make sure to get your daily dose. Your skin will thank you for it!
